Developing your decision-making skills will always be a strong driver of growth for your business…but it will not always be easy. There are so many complex decision-making strategies out there, that it can get confusing. So I want to keep things simple for you, by giving you this ONE question that will radically improve your decisions in your business.
***You may have noticed that we have a new name! I absolutely love this new direction. In the next episode I’ll share why the change was needed, but today I want to focus on the meaning of the new name.
As entrepreneurs, we make countless decisions every day, both in business and life. We decide on…
And when making these decisions, we can view the options through different lenses.
We’re consumed by worst case scenarios, or choose the option that seems the safest. While this was incredibly helpful to our ancestors who first and foremost needed to survive, it often does more harm than good when considering your potential and your dreams.
Ask yourself this question…
What decision would I make in light of success?
I love this question because it first forces us to define success and this question works universally because every single person can define success differently. You may recall in an earlier episode that in order to get what you want, you must first KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.
And that goes for any and every situation in life.
So, what would a successful day look like for you?
What would success look like in your business this year, this quarter, this month, this week, today, in the next hour, in your next launch?
What would success look like in your marriage, your finances, your health, your parenting, your vacation, your errands?
There’s nothing too big or too small for this question. What does success look like for you?
Once success is defined, you can then ask – what decision would I make in light of success.
NOT… in light of fear, or settling for less, or what someone else wants, or the easy way out.
What would you do in light of your inevitable success? Because it is inevitable when you are intentional, make decisions based on, live your life and run your business by filtering everything through your definition of success.
‘What would you do in light of your inevitable success? Because it is inevitable when you are intentional, make decisions base on, live your life and run your business by filtering everything through your definition of success.” – Kathryn Binkley
This is the question to ask as you build a business and life that light you up. And it’s my mission to be an example of this and to empower you to do the same.
Listen to today’s episode to learn how to apply this decision-making skill to every area of your life and business!
Hey there. There's something small that I do every day that I want to share with you. It has made a tremendous difference in how I approach decisions, whether big or small, from things like what I'm going to add to me to do list to what direction I'm going to take my entire business in. For things like me to do list. I actually no longer even write to do lists anymore, and instead, I always write at the top of my page, today in light of success. This keeps me focused on what needs to happen to consider today a success, which leads to prioritizing and only writing the things down that I truly need to do today. Let me tell you, it's been a game changer. Now I also use the in light of success phrase to make decisions from the right perspective.
As entrepreneurs, we make countless decisions every day, both in business and in life. We decide on things like promotions and pricing, content, colors, ad spend, hiring, firing, when to work, when to take time off, what to invest in, how to handle a myriad of fires every single day in our business, which ideas to pursue because we have a ton, and which ones to save for later. And that's just really barely touching the surface of the decisions that we have to make every day. Can you relate? I'm sure you can. And the thing is that when we're making these decisions, we can view the options through different lenses. There are always different lenses that we can view or perceive the world around us through. Sometimes, we make decisions through a lens of fear, for example. Were consumed by worst case scenarios, or choosing the option that seems the safest.
And while this was incredibly helpful to our ancestors who first and foremost needed to survive. It often doesn't do us any good. It actually does us more harm than good when considering your potential and your dreams because there's nothing about that that is just going with survival. Because the easiest way to survive is to play it safe, and that's not entrepreneurship. So instead, I want to ask you to look at things through another lens. I want you to ask yourself a question that I've actually been asking myself for years. What decision would you make in light of success? I love this question because 1st and foremost, it forces you to define success. And this question works universally because every single person can define success differently and for themselves.
You may recall an earlier episode that I did all about how to get what you want. You actually must first know what you want, and that goes for any and every situation in life. So what would a successful day look like for you today? That could be completing something you've been avoiding or taking so much needed downtime, some mix of tasks. It doesn't matter. You get to decide. That can be different for you than anyone else, but you get to decide. What would success look like in your business this year, this quarter, this month, this week, today, in the next hour, in your next launch? Or what would success look like in your marriage, your finances, your health, your parenting, your vacation, the errands you need to run this afternoon? It doesn't matter. You get to decide.
No matter what it is, you have the ability to define what success looks like for you. And by asking this question, you define that intentionally and proactively. And then once Success is defined. You can ask the full question. What decision would I make in light of success? Not in light of fear or settling for less or what someone else wants or in light of the easy way. Right? What would you do in light of your inevitable success? Because it is inevitable when you're intentional and you make decisions based on your definition of success. It is inevitable when you live your life and you run your business by filtering everything through your definition of success. This is the question that you need to ask as you build a business and life that let you up.
And it's my mission to not only be an example of this, but to empower you to live your life this way. So here's to living life in light of success.
